Confidence in what we hope for, assurance about what we don’t see — that’s a strange kind of certainty by modern standards. We’re used to trusting only what we can verify, measure, photograph. Faith runs on a different kind of evidence, one that doesn’t show up on camera but shows up in a life anyway, over years, in ways that are undeniable in hindsight even when they were invisible in the moment.
Most of us want the evidence first and the faith second, when scripture keeps handing it to us the other way around. Noah built a boat before it rained. Abraham left before he knew where he was going. The assurance came from trusting the character of the One who spoke, not from having already watched the outcome play out. Today might not hand you proof. It might just hand you another invitation to trust the character of the One who’s already spoken to you.
