There was a stretch when I woke up tired before my feet even hit the floor, already replaying yesterday’s failures. I figured today would just inherit whatever mess I’d left behind the night before, same guilt, same shortfall, carried forward like a bill nobody paid. Scripture tells it differently. God doesn’t hand you leftover mercy warmed up from yesterday’s batch. He makes it fresh, every morning, whether you earned it or not.
So His compassion isn’t measured out based on how well you did the day before. It’s already there before you open your eyes. You aren’t waking up into yesterday’s failure. You’re waking up into a mercy that was made new, specifically for the next twenty-four hours, and none of what came before touches it.
The Hebrew word behind “new” in Lamentations 3:23 is chadash. It doesn’t mean repaired or recycled. It means freshly created, something that didn’t exist before. God isn’t patching up leftover grace from yesterday. He’s producing an entirely new supply, timed to arrive with the sunrise.
“Father, thank You that Your mercy isn’t a hand-me-down from yesterday. Help me receive today’s grace without dragging yesterday’s failure into it. Amen.”
