The psalmist doesn’t locate joy in circumstances lining up. He locates it specifically in God’s presence — in your presence there is fullness of joy. That’s a precise claim, not a vague spiritual sentiment. It means joy has an actual address, and chasing it anywhere else eventually comes up short, however good that other place looked from a distance.
Sunday is a good day to test that claim honestly. Where have you been hunting for joy this week that wasn’t actually where the fullness lives? Achievement, approval, a good week at work — none of those are bad, but none of them were ever the address either. Today, instead of chasing the feeling directly, try going to the presence instead and letting the joy show up as a byproduct of actually being there.
