Notice the order in this verse. Redemption comes first, then the naming, then the claiming. God doesn’t call you by the name of what you did. He calls you by the name He gave you before any of that happened, and redemption is what makes that possible even after the record got messy.
Most of us answer to our record most days without even noticing — the mistake, the failure, the label somebody else pinned on us that stuck. Isaiah 43 says God calls you by name instead, a name that was never actually determined by your worst moment. Monday’s a good day to decide whose voice you’re going to answer to for the next five days — the record’s, or the One who redeemed you and calls you His.
